Restoration of Your Ignition Distributor, 2.7L Carrera MFI

Restoration Service for YOUR Bosch® Ignition Distributor, Carrera 2.7 L MFI
Send your distributor to us for restoration.

This is a restoration service for your Ignition Distributor, for 2.7L Carrera MFI models 1973-76 using the Bosch 0231.184.004 distributor. (These cars may also be using a Bosch 0231.169.011 distributor.)

Your ignition distributor will be completely disassembled, media blasted and polished. All new bushings, sliding surface, and shims are installed, along with a new spring package. We ensure that vertical and lateral play are within appropriate levels for proper operation and to avoid excessive wear. The restoration also includes new cap, rotor, points, condenser, and seals.

If you would also like new hold-down clips for the cap, please add two of 901.602.965.00 to your order.  If your pinion gear needs replacing, we have these available separately.

Your rebuilt unit is tested on a Sun distributor machine, and adjusted as needed to bring it within factory specs. Actual performance specs / curves are printed and included with the returned unit. The restored distributor is ready to install and set timing. We also include a free download of our TSB for Porsche CDI ignition systems.

We will need your distributor for about 3-5 weeks to complete the work. Turnaround time varies with condition of all components and shop workload.

NOTE:  Vacuum advance cans are not part of the rebuild service;  if there is a problem with your vacuum can, we will contact you. Not all cores are rebuildable.  Damaged cores may require machining and/or parts not covered by this service; if that is the case we will let you know.

Please carefully pack your distributor, write your online order number on the outside of the box, and send to:

Throttle Cross Bar Kit,
Weber and Zenith* Carburetors
Cross Bar Kit, Weber and Zenith* 3-Barrel Carbs
Includes the reverse lever, pull rod from reverse lever to crossbar, two drop down links from the crossbar to carburetor and two pivot brackets that bolt to the intake manifold with included pivot balls.

*Please Note, when using with Zenith 40TIN carburetors: The original cross bar is no longer available from Porsche, and when using this aftermarket cross bar assembly on cars that are running the Zenith 40 TIN carburetors you will need to make the following changes due to the shape of the bar not being the same as the original.

1. When assembling the ball sockets onto the crossbar at the carburetor end, you will need to space out the ball socket by adding an additional nut to the ball stud before installing and tightening it to the cross bar. This will better position the drop down link so that it is directly above the ball stud on the carburetor linkage.

2. The cross bar preload must be correctly set, otherwise the bar will move back and forth. Refer to the factory manual for more details on this.

3. The drop down linkages must be adjusted to be as long as possible without interfering with the air filter cans; this will position the cross bar arms to be as high as possible.

4. The cross bar may still need to be modified slightly if you are unable to get full throttle because the linkage is hitting the accelerator pump rod. If this is necessary, mark the linkage where it is hitting the carburetor. Using a small die grinder or angle grinder, carefully remove only as much material as needed to allow the carburetors to reach full throttle. Treat the bare metal with clear lacquer to prevent rust.

5. Finally, adjust the remaining throttle linkages and ensure that the throttle action is smooth and does not bind anywhere through the entire operating range.

If you are uncomfortable with any of these instructions, we suggest that you take the vehicle to an experienced mechanic to install these parts for you. The parts cannot be returned after you have modified them.
