Pierburg fuel pumps Pierburg, headquartered in Neuss, Germany, was founded in 1909 by brothers Alfred and Wilhelm Pierburg. Originally a steel trading business, the company expanded into fuel system and engine management components to support the German auto industry. Mechanical Pierburg pumps are commonly found on early Porsche models. As Porsche transitioned from carburetors and MFI to Bosch CIS during the 1970s, Pierburg was among the suppliers that helped support the new fuel systems. Many original Porsche fuel pumps from the CIS era were manufactured by Pierburg.
