The Weber IDA 40 carbs were originally used on Porsche 2.0L stock engines. However, many shops and owners now run them on larger, later, or modified engines by using larger chokes and more aggressive jetting. These carbs ship with factory installed jets and chokes that may be considered a starting point for 2.0 to 2.4 stock engines, depending on how the car will be driven and other factors like altitude, fuel type, etc. You should expect some fine tuning of the jetting to be necessary.
For larger engines and/or more performance, we sell several packages that may be a more suitable starting point for engines in the 2.4L to 3.0L range. To view these, search our site for the term "jet package" or contact us.
Tests performed by Weber Redline prior to shipment:
- CFM at wide open throttle to ensure matched sets
- Flow past the throttle plates at idle
- Size and depth of mixture screw holes
- Mixture screw vacuum at 0.5, 1.0, 1.5 turns
- Float height and geometry
- Test values recorded by serial # for tech support
Includes Redline’s limited warranty against manufacturing defects for 90 days from sale date.

We sell new Weber carburetor sets and many kits, tools, and parts to keep them running!
Weber Carburetors was founded in 1923 in Bologna, Italy by Edoardo Weber, an engineer of Swiss-German ancestry. Weber’s innovative designs gained a reputation for performance, reliability, and tunability, leading to widespread use by sports car manufacturers and racing teams. The company’s 3-barrel IDA, IDS, IDT, and ITDP models have fueled many 911 engines over the years, and the 2-barrel IDF is a popular replacement for factory Solex and Zenith models on the 356, 912, and 914-4. Weber carbs are still made today under license in Spain, and there is healthy ecosystem of replacement parts for them.
