This service is for the Bosch 0231.169.001 ignition distributor used in the 1968 Porsche 911L, USA models.

Service includes complete disassembly, vapor blast and media tumble of the body and internal parts, installation of new phenolics and weight spacers, advance springs, bushings, shims, seals, points, condenser, new cap and rotor. Vertical and lateral play are set within acceptable limits. Advance curve will be set up using a Sun distributor machine, with test results printed out and included in the box.

If you would also like new cap clips, please add two of part number 901.602.965.00 to your order. We have new gears available as well.

This service Does NOT include the vacuum can; if the can is unusable, we will discuss currently available options with you. Not all cores are rebuildable. Damaged cores may require additional machining and/or parts not covered by this service; if that is the case we will contact you.

We will need your distributor for (on average) 4-5 weeks to complete the work. Turnaround time varies with condition of core and shop workload.

This is a restoration service for the Bosch® ignition distributor part number 0.231.159.008. This distributor will fit Porsche® 911T models that were originally equipped with the Bosch® 0.231.159.008. 

When you send your distributor to us, it will be completely disassembled, media blasted, and then polished. All hardware is restored or replaced. All new bushings, sliding surface, and shim kit are installed along with a new spring package. The restoration includes a new cap, rotor, points, condenser, and shaft seal, so that the unit arrives ready to install and set timing. All restored distributors are tested on our Sun machines and shipped with a printed copy of the actual advance curves.

This thorough restoration takes an average of 4 weeks for us to complete. Actual turnaround time will depend on shop workload, the condition of the core, and other factors.

Not all cores are rebuildable. We can replace certain items like the pinion gear for an additional cost, but other parts may be no longer available. Exchange Your Rocker Arm Assembly - Intake (send cores first)
Intake Rocker Arm and Shaft Assembly 
Send yours in for exchange or rework.  No core charge.

Rocker arm tips are surfaced and rocker bores are bored .10 mm oversize. Rocker shafts are surface ground then hard chrome plated and finished by centerless grinding to match the oversize rocker bore. These parts are sold as a kit and on an exchange basis, so please send us your components first. 

In some instances, not all parts can be re-built.  The most common issue is that the rocker shafts can crack, especially the intake rocker shaft. If this is the case, we do have core rocker shafts available, and you would just pay the rocker shaft core price difference of $25.00. 

These parts fit 356 B/C/SC and 912 models using aluminum rocker stands. This assembly does not include valve adjusting post or lock nut.

Please Note
: the center aluminum stand for the intake rockers will need to be reamed to 16.05mm to accommodate the increased shaft size.

Preparation and shipment:
Send us the arms and shafts only, no hardware please! 
Remove spacers / collars from shafts, and store them.
Remove the screws and nuts from each arm, and store them also.
If these parts are not removed, extra labor charges will apply.

Send us your Bosch model 0231.184.001 Ignition distributor for restoration. This distributor is used on 1974-75 Porsche 911S models. Check the outside case of your distributor for the Bosch number and verify your Engine Code as one of the following: 911/41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 46, 47, 48, 49, 81, 82, 84, 86, 89, 92, 93  

When you send us your distributor, it will be completely disassembled, media blasted, and polished. All new bushings and shims are installed, along with a new spring package. We ensure that vertical and lateral play are within appropriate levels for proper operation and the prevention of excessive wear. The service also includes new cap, rotor, points, and seals. A free download of our technical service bulletin for Porsche CDI ignition systems is included as well.

Your rebuilt unit is tested on a Sun machine and adjusted until it operates within factory specs. Test results are printed and included with the unit. The restored distributor ships ready to install and set timing.

This is a thorough restoration and we will need your distributor for about 4-5 weeks to complete the work. Turnaround times vary based on condition of all the distributor’s components and shop workload.

Please Note:  The vacuum advance unit is not part of the build price, and you will be contacted if there is a problem with your advance unit.  Not all distributor cores are rebuildable.  Damaged distributor cores may require additional machining and/or parts not included in this service; if that is the case we will let you know.
